STOUTFIN / FIELD GUIDE
Choosing line for changing water
Pick braid, fluorocarbon or mono for the water in front of you.
Braid casts farther and has almost no stretch. That makes it a poor main line for a treble-hook hard bait unless you add a leader that can stretch or disappear.
Fluorocarbon sinks and is harder to see beside cover. It is the usual leader material, and it is also sold as a main line. Monofilament stretches, which cushions a treble-hook bait, and it floats more than fluorocarbon.
StoutFin offers high-strength rigging accessories and terminal tackle engineered for demanding waters. Read the spool before you fill a reel. None of those choices is a tapered fly leader.
